Description

This kiln-fused glass artwork captures the distinctive silhouette of the Pitons in St Lucia, seen at sunset as the last light fades behind the mountains and reflects across the water.

The piece is constructed from eight layers of Bullseye glass, carefully stacked to build depth within the landscape. Six of the layers are hand painted with Dove enamels, creating the sky, mountains, sea and foreground hills.

During firing, the layers are kiln fused into a single solid glass panel, allowing the colours and forms to merge softly while preserving the depth created by the layered construction. The panel is then hand polished, producing smooth edges and a refined finish.

As light passes through the glass, the subtle tonal transitions in the sky and water become more visible, giving the scene a quiet luminosity.

Each piece is handmade, so slight variations in colour and texture are part of the character of the work.
